Our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy MSc degree is designed for current professionals wishing to develop their expertise in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

This master?s course will equip you with the expertise to apply CBT techniques across a range of practices within psychology and with diverse groups of patients. Drawing on a range of approaches to CBT practice and enquiry, this course will enable you to make a significant contribution to research and practice across a range of settings including public, private and third sectors.

Designed for therapists, psychologists, counsellors and other mental health professionals, our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy MSc course aims to provide you with up-to-date multidisciplinary scientific and academic knowledge of CBT.

You will consider theoretical and practical issues relating to deliver of CBT within a range of emotional and complex mental health disorders.

You?ll explore a range of specialist topics such as:

* the theoretical and practitioner approaches to CBT

* the role of CBT in addressing emotional and complex disorders

* the relationship between cognitions and behaviour in improving mental health

* the application of CBT in diverse populations

Assessment

You will be assessed via a range of methods, including:

* a reflective essay

* a case formulation

* a process report

* a presentation

* an examination

* two short research assignments using qualitative and quantitative methodologies

* a 7,000-word reflexive critical literature review and a 3,000-word proposal

You will also be required to complete a minimum of 200 supervised clinical hours in a work placement over the duration of the programme and work with a minimum of 8 clients who have been assessed and treated using CBT.

Your personal and professional development is individually monitored and supported throughout the programme via annual reviews and appraisals with a tutor from the programme team.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: You will be required to have; a lower second class (2.2) honours degree (or above) or overseas equivalent You will be required to have registration for a core profession with minimum 2 years experience, in areas such as: art therapy (HCPC registered) counselling medicine occupational therapy probation services practitioner psychology (HCPC registered) psychotherapy mental or learning disability nursing social work Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) teaching Knowledge, Skills and Attitude (KSA) (BABCP) applicant

A certifying statement of results is also required.
