Course Introduction

The MSc Corporate Finance degree specialises in the theory and practice of corporate finance, one of the most popular sectors in financial services. The programme will provide you with the knowledge to successfully navigate the rapidly changing global landscape of business finance and is designed to prepare you for a wide range of careers in the financial sector, including investment banking, securities sales and trading, foreign exchange, hedge funds, private banking, credit products, financial and credit risk management and consultancy. The Corproate Finance degree will develop your corporate finance expertise to the highest level and focus on areas of corporate finance that have a major practical and theoretical significance such as investment analysis, valuation, optimal capital structure and mergers and acquisitions, derivatives, finance microstructure and taxation.

Our programmes lead to excellent career prospects and our graduates work in a variety of careers. Some apply their degree knowledge directly in international finance, economist or research roles. The transferable skills gained through the programmes, such as analysis, business awareness and data-handling, enable our graduates to work in sectors beyond those directly related to their degree. Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Undergraduate Degree - At the minimum a good 2:2 or overseas equivalent is required. (A good performance in a higher degree such as a Masters will also be accepted). Degree Discipline - Any degree discipline is acceptable, but students must have a satisfactory existing level of mathematics and statistics. We welcome students from a variety of disciplines, including Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering, Economics and Finance. Students from less quantitatively oriented degrees, such as Accounting, Management and Politics, are also welcome if they have focused on the more quantitative elements of those degrees. Work experience and professional qualifications - Weight will be given to relevant work experience and professional qualifications but neither is necessary to be accepted onto this course.
  • International entry requirements: Students whose first degree is not taught in an English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language proficiency 6.5 IELTS overall and 6.0 in Writing or equivalent is the minimum required.
