Course Introduction

Japanese - This course is designed to provide intensive language training at different proficiency levels - depending on entry level - within a Masters programme in Japanese Studies. It allows students: to cultivate or further develop a basic expertise in particular aspects of Japanese Studies; choose modules that meet their own needs, with respect to their interest in Japan and future career plans; develop their abilities to synthesize information, to think critically, to manage a complex research project and to present their results in verbal and written form; achieve a high level of language proficiency and a master transferable language and analytical skills in order to prepare for a variety of potential future professional or research careers.

Anthropology of Travel and Tourism ? This course is suitable for students with an interest in anthropological approaches to diverse aspects of tourism as a cultural force in the contemporary world, from sustainable development to cultural heritage. Our students come from all over the world, following BA study, a masters degree in another field, or work and travel experience. This combination of diverse backgrounds and skills creates a uniquely stimulating intellectual environment. Many of our graduates go on to a PhD; others pursue careers in research and consulting; NGOs; museums and other cultural institutions; travel-writing; alternative tourism enterprises; and government agencies.

  • International entry requirements: Students whose first language is not English need to have IELTS with 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in reading and listening.
