Course Introduction

The Education MA at Brunel University London is designed for those with a broad interest in education and enables students to undertake a high-level, critical evaluation of educational theory and practice. The course develops the skills and confidence needed to enhance professional practice in learning organisations. This course is available as the MA in Education or the MA in Education with a pathway in: Special Educational Needs and Disability and Inclusion, Leadership and Management, Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education and Professional Practice and Pedagogy.

Aims: You will learn to understand the different disciplinary and theoretical perspectives that inform the field of education; You will engage in critical discussion of contemporary educational questions and to encourage a comparative and global perspective on educational policy and practice; You will develop knowledge and understanding of a range of methodological approaches and the independance necessary to undertake educational research; You will relate to aspects of your study to your personal and professional interests.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Students should have a 2:2 (or above) UK Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification. Relevant professional experience is desirable. Applicants who have previously been awarded a PGCE in Primary Education or Secondary Education by Brunel University OR have been awarded a PGCE through another institution at FHEQ7 and who wish to APL onto the MA Education or MA Education (with pathway) programme may apply for exemptions. Applications for exemptions will need to adhere to the Brunel University London Policy and Senate Regulations.
  • International entry requirements: Students should have IELTS: 6.5 (min 6 in all areas); Pearson: 58 (51 in all subscores); BrunELT: 65% (min 60% in all areas).
