Course Introduction

Dental Public Health focuses on preventing oral diseases and improving the oral health of populations. Addressing the major oral health issues and the global challenges facing dental care systems in the current political economy requires strategic planning, evidence-informed decision-making and strong public health leadership. The Dental Public Health, Policy and Leadership Postgraduate Diploma builds on the Certificate Course by including four additional modules that allow students to develop ?real world? transferrable public health skills that cover: Research Methods; Primary Dental Care; Health Systems Policy and Performance (from the online MSc in Global Public Health at QMUL); Leadership and Planning in Health and Public Services (run in collaboration with the School of Business and Management at QMUL).

This course is for: Dentists and Dental Care Professionals; Public health practitioners and advisors; Health promoters; Health service managers; Anyone with an interest in public health, dental service planning and policy making. Assessment is via a range of methods including weekly quiz-style questions, written coursework, Adobe Connect oral presentations and timed examinations at a designated examination venue in your home country.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Students need a minimum entry requirement is a 2:1 degree (or the overseas equivalent) in a relevant subject. In addition to having a degree in a relevant subject, we also require a minimum of two year?s post qualification full-time experience. Degree disciplines such as Medicine, Dentistry, Chemistry, Biology or related subjects in the Sciences will be considered. We acknowledge professional practice gained from a wide variety of relevant backgrounds.
  • International entry requirements: Students need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 including 6.5 in all four components or equivalent.
