BA (Hons) Lighting Design for Architecture provides a professional training and education, leading to careers in the architectural lighting industry and related fields. In this vibrant, growing and rapidly changing industry there is a need for graduates who combine creative imagination with technical understanding, and our Lighting Design for Architecture programme will give you the skills you need to succeed as a lighting professional.
The programme builds on Rose Bruford College's experience with its ground-breaking The BA (Hons) Lighting Design programme, the first of its kind in Europe. Design for architecture and the built environment is increasingly engaged not only with physical structures but also the experience of inhabitants and users of buildings and spaces - architectural lighting designers now think in terms of space, narrative and experience design, not simply illumination. ‘Performance’ now provides a vital and productive way to think about, make, and light architecture, and Rose Bruford College's programme is uniquely placed to prepare you for a career in this industry.
**Embedded in Industry**
The BA (Hons) Lighting Design for Architecture is delivered in conjunction with the Lighting Education Trust (LET), offering students access to world-class training and work placement opportunities across the architectural lighting industries, alongside the College’s established training and professional links in the creative industries.
The BA (Hons) Lighting Design for Architecture has a strong international scope, working in close collaboration with industry and education partners from across Europe and beyond to offer students opportunities to have a period of study abroad. Current international educational partners for the programme are Jönköping University in Sweden and HAWK Hildesheim in Germany.
