Course Introduction

The Engineering with Management MSc course will equip you with practical and theoretical knowledge of modern engineering, alongside a grounding in management techniques and their application to the field of engineering. The course will prepare you for a career in the field of engineering at a managerial level.

Description

The Engineering with Management MSc will prepare you for a management pathway in engineering. You will study key areas of operations and project management, which will equip you with the skills of how to use mathematical modelling and optimisation methods to solve a range of problems. You will also gain an understanding of project planning approaches, monitoring and operations strategy. There are also opportunities to explore a wide variety of optional modules allowing you the freedom to develop your study pathway to reflect your interests.

You will complete the course in one year, studying September to September and taking a combination of required and optional modules totalling 180 credits, including 60 credits that will come from an individual project.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: BSc or BEng with 2:1 honours in Engineering or other relevant subject e.g. physics, mathematics, computer science. In order to meet the academic entry requirements for this programme you should have a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree with a final mark of at least 60% or above in the UK marking scheme. If you are still studying you should be achieving an average of at least 60% or above in the UK marking scheme. Additional Requirements: Applicants should also have : a sound background in basic mathematics, in particular familiarity with standard concepts of calculus, linear algebra, differential equations and elementary probability theory. Competence in computer programming to the level expected at the end of the first year of a BSc honours degree in computer science. We also welcome professional or occupational qualifications and assess them on an individual basis.   • International entry requirements: Students can demonstrate their English Language Proficiency with any of the following tests and grades: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill; TOEFL IBT: 92 overall, with a minimum 23 in each skill; Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE): 176 overall with a minimum of 169 in each skill; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 overall with a minimum of 169 in each skill; Pearson Test of English (Academic): 62 overall, with a minimum of 52 in each skill. The tests listed above are valid if they have been taken within the past two years.
