Course Introduction

The degree is for senior leaders in education from settings in all phases of educational provision or from a systemic level. It is suitable, therefore, from educators in pre-school settings to those working at the tertiary level as well as those with a system wide role. This programme provides students the opportunity to develop as a strategic thinker, leader of learning and educational improvement, and manager of resources, exploring important national and international debates in and around educational reform, leadership, and teaching and learning. Graduates of this Master's degree are currently working as: Executive leaders of academies and multi-academy trusts; Headteachers/Principals; Heads of early childhood settings; Senior education consultants working within national and international contexts; Local authority leaders; Senior leaders aspiring to executive leadership roles in education. Students will take this course in flexible study mode also.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Students must have a second-class UK Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, or equivalent senior leadership experience. Those who have earned the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) certificate within the last five years will gain 30 credits towards the MBA. All applicants must have relevant professional experience.
  • International entry requirements: Students need to have: IELTS overall grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the subtests; overall score of 100 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listening in Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT; overall score of 185 with 176 in all subtests in Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English; overall score of 185 with 176 in all subtests in Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English; pass at Mastery level when achieved with a pass at Mastery level in the Pitman International Spoken test (ISESOL) in City & Guilds (Pitman Examination in International ESOL); 69 overall, with a minimum of 59 in each Communicative Skill in Pearson Test of English (Academic); successful completion of ISE III with a ?merit? in all components; overall mark of 70%, with at least 65% in each of the four subtests in UCL Diploma in English for Academic Purposes; overall mark of 70% with at least 65% in each of the four elements of the examination in UCL International Pre-Master's Courses; mark of 70%, with at least 65% in each of the subtests in UCL Pre-sessional English Courses.
