Course Introduction

Our Masters in Creative Fashion Start-Up takes you through the early phases of launching a new business and developing prototypes. On this course you will have the chance to incubate your potential start-up or creative concept with the help of fashion industry experts. In addition to developing your entrepreneurial skills, you will have the opportunity to establish a network of professional connections and valuable peer relationships. If you want your start-up to have the same kind of visual and emotional impact as your favourite brands, this course can give you the means to achieve your goal.

The academic elements of this course reflect the key initial phases of new business development. Throughout, your tutors will: help you understand the relevant industry skills, knowledge and practice you need to work at the forefront of the creative industries and face the challenges of business-building; encourage you to innovate and experiment with form, structure, language, and genre to produce distinctive and original work; help you to develop entrepreneurship skills, including research and analysis, business governance and operation, and innovation management and negotiation; help you to develop a critical and reflective approach to design practices, market opportunities and your learning; help you develop into a capable and professionally astute graduate who contributes to the skills base of the creative industries in the UK and internationally.

This course is designed for early-career professionals in the creative and cultural industries or in small- or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). If you work for or have experience with a creative communications collective, a new fashion brand or a start-up with a product that enhances society through a fashion initiative, you will find the course especially useful. Some students will join this course with a single creative business goal in mind. We will support you throughout the course to develop this concept so that you are prepared to pursue your goal on graduation.
