Birkbeck, University of London

Course Introduction

This Postgraduate Diploma in Analytical Bioscience provides advanced training for work and research in the molecular biosciences, biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors. You can gain extensive hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. The course is designed to allow flexibility in attendance requirements, with material being delivered via a mixture of face-to-face classes, distance learning, practical classes, tutorials and a research project.

Assessment is an integral part of your university studies and usually consists of a combination of coursework and examinations, although this will vary from course to course - on some of our courses, assessment is entirely by coursework. You will need to allow time to complete coursework and prepare for exams.

Graduates go on to careers in the health sector, academic research, toxicology and pharmaceuticals. Possible professions include analytical chemist, biomedical scientist, research scientist (life sciences), or toxicologist. This degree can also be useful in becoming a clinical research associate, science writer, or scientific laboratory technician.
