Course Introduction

This is a postgraduate certificate programme that thoroughly explores the most important topics in aesthetic dentistry. It covers scientific documentation as well as clinical applications and step by step clinical procedures. It is studied part-time over one year (October to July). The programme is designed for dental practitioners who wish to remain at the cutting edge of contemporary dentistry and to be able to meet and deliver with confidence the restorative needs of patients with high aesthetic expectations. The programme places emphasis on acquiring knowledge, understanding and skills in the areas of aesthetic restorations, contemporary biomaterials and evidence-based clinical procedures and techniques. Emphasis is placed on acquiring knowledge, understanding, and skills in the areas of aesthetic restorations, contemporary biomaterials, and evidence based clinical procedures and techniques. Successful graduates gain the clinical and theoretical skills and techniques necessary to incorporate aspects of aesthetic dentistry into their daily practice and meet realistic expectations of patients with high aesthetic demands.

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: All applicants must normally hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of one year of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • International entry requirements: Students need to have: IELTS overall grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the subtests; overall score of 100 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listening in Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT; overall score of 185 with 176 in all subtests in Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English; overall score of 185 with 176 in all subtests in Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English; pass at Mastery level when achieved with a pass at Mastery level in the Pitman International Spoken test (ISESOL) in City & Guilds (Pitman Examination in International ESOL); 69 overall, with a minimum of 59 in each Communicative Skill in Pearson Test of English (Academic); successful completion of ISE III with a ?merit? in all components; overall mark of 70%, with at least 65% in each of the four subtests in UCL Diploma in English for Academic Purposes; overall mark of 70% with at least 65% in each of the four elements of the examination in UCL International Pre-Master's Courses; mark of 70%, with at least 65% in each of the subtests in UCL Pre-sessional English Courses.
