ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

MA Fashion at the RCA looks for and encourages a fearless approach to creative expression, fanatical technique and an informed outlook. The Programme focuses on strengthening this spirit of exploration through unique expertise and a polymathic debate with modern global awareness. We encourage a strong work ethic across a broad variety of personally driven and cross-Programme design projects.

The Fashion Programme continues to develop an environment directed towards creative self-discovery, offering each student both the conceptual tutelage and technical guidance to achieve their design objectives.

The Programme offers:

* an environment geared towards creating: designers/makers who drive their discipline forward through strong personal vision and a passionate commitment

* one-to-one tutorials developing vibrant intellectual debate about the work and ambition

* a curriculum designed to develop self-confidence by balancing creative expression, technical excellence, communication and professionalism

* excellent technical facilities and vibrant, dedicated studio space and workshops

* visiting lecturers from the international fashion scene as well as recent RCA alumni, material scientists (such as those from the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London), visual artists and game designers, economists and philosophers (for example, from Goldsmiths University) neuroscientists (from King?s College London), architects and fine artists

* opportunities for project collaborations across fashion, science and visual art

* excellent graduate destinations, including: Adidas, Alexander McQueen, Aitor Throup, Balenciaga, Christopher Raeburn, Givenchy, Hussein Chalayan, Loewe, Nike, Thierry Mugler and Vivienne Westwood

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Students should include: Recent work, including research and design development, and rendered illustrations and flats of at least four projects; Garment imagery.
  • International entry requirements: Students should include: Recent work, including research and design development, and rendered illustrations and flats of at least four projects; Garment imagery. Candidates who do not speak English as their first language are required to produce evidence that within the previous two years they have achieved at least 93 in the TOEFL internet test, with an additional writing test score of TWE 24 or an IELTS exam score of 6.5 with 6 in writing.
