Course Introduction

This course is designed to provide you with rigorous training in theoretical and applied economics. It is suitable for students who either intend to pursue doctoral studies or are planning a career as research economists in academia, the public sector, international institutions, economic consulting, the financial industry, think tanks, or other research centres. Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Students need to have an undergraduate degree with minimum 2:1 or overseas equivalent. A good performance in a higher degree such as a masters will also be accepted. Any degree discipline is acceptable, but students must have a good existing level of mathematics and statistics. Usually, our students come from Economics or a related field. Students from Mathematics, Engineering and Sciences are encouraged to apply. Weight will be given to relevant work experience and professional qualifications but neither is necessary to be accepted onto this course. All aspects of students application will be taken into consideration so our decision to make them an offer is not exclusively based on the criteria.
  • International entry requirements: Students need to have overall IELTS score of 6.5 and 6.0 in Writing or equivalent.
  • IELTS score: 6.5
