Description

The Department of Classics currently has expertise in the following areas within this field:

Greek literature since the 12th century;

Greek history in the 19th and 20th centuries;

Byzantine history, archaeology and architechture

Cyprus from Late Antiquity to the early modern era

Qualifications required:

  • Domestic entry requirements: Master's Degree with Merit in a closely related subject, with minimum of Merit in the dissertation element also.
  • International entry requirements: Students can demonstrate their English Language Proficiency with the following tests and grades: IELTS (Academic): 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in reading & writing and 6.0 in listening & speaking; TOEFL iBT: 100 overall with a minimum of 25 in writing, 23 in reading and 20 in each of the other skills; Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE): 185 overall; minimum 176 in reading & writing and 169 in listening & speaking; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 185 overall; minimum 176 in reading & writing and 169 in listening & speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic): 69 overall, with a minimum of 62 in reading & writing and 59 in listening & speaking. The tests listed above are valid if they have been taken within the past two years.
