Course Introduction

A fashion buyer is responsible for the profitable development, sourcing and selection of products that meet the needs and desires of the customer, by working closely with the merchandising, design and marketing teams. As a Fashion Buying Management student you will combine your creative flair with robust business management skills in a fast'paced, industry'focused course, which enjoys widespread support from the fashion and retail industry, with extensive contribution from industry leaders.

Course Modules

Alongside study skills and personal development workshops, in your first year you will study core modules on the fashion business, the buying process, trends and consumer culture, marketing, and fabrics and garment technology; there is also an optional range design and CAD module. Second year core modules focus on trading and concept development, sourcing and manufacture, and career development. Option modules include global retailing, fashion promotion, creative encounters, and visual merchandising and styling; there are also the credit'bearing fashion placement year and sandwich year options between your second and third year. In your final year you will complete one double core module – your major project – and be able to choose from a range of option modules including trends and changes in retail, branding, luxury fashion management, consumer behaviour, entrepreneurship, commercial skills, global sourcing and sustainability. An elective language module is available in each year.
