Course Introduction

This programme is an advanced computer science course that also introduces core management theories and skills to an audience of scientists and engineers who already possess a good foundation in programming.

Course Modules

Modules include: Individual project; project management; operations management; principles of management; multimedia compression methods and systems; parallel and distributed algorithms; algorithm design and analysis; computational models; optimisation methods; text searching and processing; web algorithms.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelors degree with 2.1 honours degree (or international equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or a joint degree in two such subjects.
  • Competence in a high level programming language such as Pascal, C, C++, Java, etc, to the level expected at the end of the first year of a BSc honours degree in computer science.
