**About this course**

On this course, you’ll study the causes and consequences of crime, approaches to preventing crime and mitigating the harm it causes, and how offenders are managed in the criminal justice system. Through court observations, research and case studies, you’ll see the real-life relevance of the degree.

You’ll look at the social and political environments of crime, individual motivations and psychological influences. You’ll study mental health and crime control (policing and punishment), and the history, culture and techniques of policing and investigation.

There are advanced modules on the context of crime, criminalisation and investigation, criminal behaviour and therapy. Your dissertation will be in an area of your own criminological interest.
