The Art History with English BA will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll have the opportunity to interpret moments of history as manifested in works of art from antiquity to the contemporary, originating from as diverse cultures as Europe, China, and North America. Survey courses are combined with more media-specific subjects, such as architecture, landscapes, painting, and in English, a range of literary forms and critical responses to them.
This three-year course will explore the production and reception of art across a wide geographical and chronological span. It will look at traditional areas such as Italian Renaissance sculpture, French Modernist paintings and Western architecture after 1851; and it will engage in-depth with Byzantine, Islamic and North American Culture.
