Course Introduction

This course is designed as preparation for professionals who are considering undertaking the UEL'validated Postgraduate Diploma Approved Mental Health Practice. This course is intended for qualified and experienced social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists or psychologists. As a participant, you will be sponsored by your employer.

Course Modules

The course begins with an induction session, followed by four one'day workshops between February and April. As a student on the course, you will arrange five hour'long observations on separate occasions in a psychiatric ward. You will later explore these observations in reflective practice seminars ' the core of your learning. The structured learning series also involves a reading/theory seminar, and an input session on key themes in mental health.

Qualifications required:

  • You must have a valid registration with a relevant professional body, such as the HCPC, and be employed in an appropriate professional setting, in addition to the overall programme requirements.
