Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays


Watch the traditional royal ceremony ‘Changing the Guard' at Buckingham Palace. Here you can see The Queen’s Guard dressed in traditional red tunics and bearskin hats. During the formal ceremony which is accompanied by music, the New Guard takes over the responsibilities from the Old Guard. The ceremony is free to watch and currently takes place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, weather permitting. There is no ceremony on days when large events are held in the city centre.
