UK student visa application
International students can apply online for a UK student visa depending on which country they are from.
Detailed application guidance is available on the UK Visas and UK Border Agency websites.
To be eligible for a student visa in the UK you need to provide evidence that you have enough money to pay your course fees and monthly living costs.
The amount required depends on the length of your course:
- Courses that last 9 months or less: you must have your course fees plus £800 for each calendar month of the course.
- Courses longer than 9 months: you must have the first year of your course fees plus £7,200 to cover your living costs during your first nine months in the UK.
You need to prove that the funds have been in your bank account for at least 28 days before your visa application.
Postgraduate students may also need to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate which is required for certain courses.
