Green technology research

The UK’s first inner-city green technology research centre has been launched at London South Bank University (LSBU).

Opened by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson (pictured, centre), the Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB) is a multi-million pound teaching and research facility for low carbon technologies.

Built in partnership with City University London and Kingston University London, the Centre incorporates wind turbines, a solar fibre optic lighting system and the latest in solar panel designs.

CEREB gives researchers and engineers the opportunity to investigate new practices and technologies in renewable energy for buildings such as smart meters and micro-generation of electricity.
