Groundbreaking drug trial

Researchers at Imperial College London recently launched a trial of a new, low cost, one-a-day combined 'polypill' which they hope will reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular problems.

Imperial’s new 'Red Heart Pill' will fight cardiovascular disease, the world's biggest killer. Tests will be conducted with least 2,000 volunteers from across the world who are at high risk of heart attack or stroke.

Researchers will test the pill’s effectiveness of lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels while investigating whether patients are more likely use preventive treatment if given a single polypill rather than multiple tablets.
