London motorsport students
< Back to university newsImperial College London students made it to the semi-finals of the world's first-ever zero emissions motorsport championship.
Imperial's team competed with six universities from around the world for the 2008 Formula Zero Championship that took place in the Netherlands.
Each team designed and developed their own fuel cell karts. Unlike conventional engines, fuel cells produce electricity when hydrogen fuel reacts with oxygen taken from the air, leaving water as the only exhaust product.
