Course Introduction

An MSc by Research will provide you with the necessary skills to undertake research, either in an academic or industrial environment. The expectation is that every graduate from the degree publishes at least one conference paper as part of the research. You will have the opportunity to develop further research and technical skills and to be able to demonstrate a level of independence that is greater than developed on a purely taught programme.

The programme is suitable for outstanding students who have an interest in advanced research'based study in one of our research specialisms: Antenna and Electromagnetics; Centre for Digital Music (C4DM); Multimedia and Vision (MMV); Networks.

On this programme you will use theoretical and experimental research techniques to explore and create innovative state'of'the'art technologies, enabling you to transfer your knowledge for practical application in the future.

You will join one of our research groups, taking four selected taught modules and completing an extended research project. You will have the opportunity to develop further research and technical skills and to be able to demonstrate a level of independence that is greater than developed on a purely taught programme.
