New College of the Humanities

Course Introduction

The English major combines the broad historical coverage of traditional English degrees with distinctive features reflecting the College’s liberal arts tradition. These include the study of rhetoric, the study of stylistics, and comparison between literatures in English, literatures in different languages, different art forms, and between literary criticism and cognate disciplines. The Law minor aims to provide a thematic basis to academic legal studies which aligns to career paths that are attractive to alumni of the College, in particular careers in which knowledge and understanding of corporate, commercial and employment matters are valuable; provide legal knowledge and skills.

In your second year: English major: Literary Kinds (30 credits) and Literature 1550 ' 1700 (30 credits) and Literature 1900 ' present (30 credits); English minor: Literary Kinds (30 credits);

In your third year: English major: North American Literature (30 credits) and Cultures of London (30 credits) and Comparative Literature (30 credits); English minor: Comparative Literature (30 credits)
