Course Introduction

This programme is aimed at employees across the health sector who want to keep abreast of the latest developments in biomedical science, healthcare management and related subjects. The online learning programme is managed by a consortium of: NHS Trusts; Pathology Joint Ventures; Public Health England, and The University of Greenwich.

Modules: Lung disease; renal disease; diagnosis of breast cancer; immunocytochemistry in diagnostic cellular pathology; clinical data interpretation; implementing advanced quality management; governance and risk management; robotics and automation (in laboratory science); chromatography'mass spectrometry analysis in healthcare settings; analysis of nucleic acids; advanced human genetics; management of healthcare associated infection; quality systems management; point of care testing; blood transfusion; managing learning and development in healthcare.

Qualifications required:

  • Applicants should have: A BSc degree or equivalent together with relevant working experience or appropriate qualifications and experience gained within the NHS or in an equivalent healthcare setting. Applicants are also expected to be registered practitioners and will normally have completed four structured online learning modules from the Biomed Online Learning Programme. Students educated in a language other than English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent.
