Course Introduction

The degree is based around the major disciplines within the profession, such as civil, structural, geotechnical, and water engineering. At UEL Civil Engineering has an excellent tradition and reputation.

We offer a three'year course, with the option of adding a year'long placement working in industry. Your degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators, which is made up of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers.

Our high entry standards reflect the fact that each of our graduates will be heading for a professional engineering qualification.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to Structural Mechanics (Core) Earth and Materials Properties (Core) Maths and Introduction to Fluid Mechanics (Core) Construction Technology & Surveying Core)

Year 2: Analysis and Design of Structural Elements (Core) Geotechnical and Material Analysis (Core) Engineering Maths and Hydraulic Analysis (Core) Engineering Surveying and Management (Core) *Optional industrial sandwich placement after completion of level 5 modules.

Year 3 :Structural Analysis and Design (Core) Geotechnical Engineering Design (Core) Integrated Design Project (Core) Individual Research Project (Core) Traffic and Highway Engineering (Option) Construction Site Field Project (Option)
