Course Introduction

This programme will set your career path by helping you prepare for professional qualifications within the investment sector. It also covers the key theoretical areas of finance and investment analysis. This degree has a strong focus on developing the analytical skills needed in the finance industry. You will be taught by academics who have recent experience as practitioners in the field as well as relevant research expertise. You will study financial markets and products, investment management, financial analysis and valuation, and financial econometrics. You will also carry out a research project focusing on data analysis of financial markets.

Compulsory modules: Financial analysis and valuation; financial econometrics; business English for academic purposes; research methods; foundations of scholarship (dept ACC); principles of finance; investment management; financial markets and products; research project.

Qualifications required:

  • You should have a relevant/numerate undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised university or higher education institute. If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent. If you require a Tier 4 (General) student visa to study in the UK, your score must be from a UK Visas and Immigration approved IELTS test.
