Research areas in Computer Science include: data and knowledge management; health and social care modelling;
computational intelligence; high performance Java and virtual multi'language programming environments; modelling and simulation of parallel and distributed systems; performance optimisations and prediction; performance evaluation; high level message passing interfaces; clustering and grid computing; large'scale distributed computing infrastructures (DCIs) such as grids and clouds; science gateways; computational workflow; and infrastructure interoperability. Much of our work has an applied focus, with real'world impact. Our teaching and research are closely linked, so that students are able to learn from leading researchers in the field.
