Course Introduction

This degree programme enables you to study Art History and Law for your combined honours degree. The study of Art History gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The parameters of the Art History major at NCH have been set as widely as possible, from Europe to China, with a time span that extends from antiquity to the contemporary. The Law minor aims to provide a thematic basis to academic legal studies which aligns to career paths that are attractive to alumni of the College, in particular careers in which knowledge and understanding of corporate, commercial and employment matters are valuable; provide legal knowledge and skills.

In your first year: Introduction to Art History (30 credits), The Art of the Byzantine World (30 credits), The Art of the Islamic World (30 credits), English Legal System (30 credits); In your second year: The Industry of Art: Renaissance & Baroque Patrons, Artists, Objects & Consumers (30 credits), One course chosen from The Elegiac Landscape (30 credits), The City in Contemporary History (30 credits), Plus European Painting: Chardin to Matisse (30 credits), Law of Tort (30 credits); In your third year: Modern Architecture: 1851 to the present (30 credits), One course chosen from Ceramics from Asia: 618 – 1650 (30 credits), Masters of America (30 credits), Plus Dissertation (30 credits), Law of the European Union (30 credits)
