Course Introduction

This is a unique, vocationally orientated degree programme, offered by Birkbeck's School of Law ' one of the top 3 law schools in London ' in association with the world'leading Institute for Criminal Policy Research. You will acquire substantive knowledge and the ability to critically analyse a wide range of rules and principles that structure the broad field of criminal law, policy and practice, including the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, the criminal trial process and criminal evidence. You will examine the political, moral, social and regulatory contexts and frameworks of the criminal law and its applications, critically explore policy, and learn the theory and history of criminal law norms and practices. The programme is unique in that it will equip you with the requisite professional and transferable skills you need to to work as an advocate, policy maker, adviser or campaigner, working in the field of criminal justice.
