Course Introduction

The course enables students to take account of children's interests, views and rights, and understand the complex relationships between the protection, provision and participation rights defined by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Course Modules

Modules include: Children's rights in practice; researching childhood; theories of childhood and children's rights; dissertation on childhood studies. Options include: early childhood education; justice: contemporary social issues and perspectives; rights and education; systematic research synthesis; values in society.

Course Additional Entry

A 1st degree in social science, media or cultural studies, humanities, education or a related field; or an unrelated 1st degree with additional relevant experience in an appropriate field such as child care, health or education; preferably have professional experience of working with and for children.
