Course Introduction

The course: combines academic study with professional educational practice; looks at influential theories in museum and gallery education; uses museum and gallery collections as a basis for curriculum development; interprets heritage sites: for example, gardens, industrial sites and historic buildings; increases students' understanding of cultural influences on collections; articulates a rigorous argument for learning through culture; understands the impact of technology on culture.

A 1st degree (minimum 2.1 Honours) in a subject related to the arts, humanities or science and professional or voluntary experience in museums, galleries or heritage.
