Based within our Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) our research into photography is part of one of the UK's leading centres for research in visual media art, design and music. It boasts over 30 researchers, including internationally renowned artists, filmmakers, photographers, theorists, critics and musicians. With expertise covering photographic history, theory and practice, this research culture grew directly out of the University's pioneering photography courses. Interconnecting themes include the place of photography in art, the interface between photography and the moving image, fashion and photography as well as surrealism.
