Course Introduction

Research areas in Computer Science include: data and knowledge management; health and social care modelling; computational intelligence; high performance Java and virtual multi'language programming environments; modelling and simulation of parallel and distributed systems; performance optimisations and prediction; performance evaluation; high level message passing interfaces; clustering and grid computing; large'scale distributed computing infrastructures (DCIs) such as grids and clouds; science gateways; computational workflow; and infrastructure interoperability.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum classification of 2.1 in a first degree (or equivalent); and, preferably, a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending); and (if English is not your first language). Appropriate English Language qualifications (you will normally be required to achieve minimum IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent). You will also need to have the commitment and motivation to undertake a sustained programme of independent and self'directed study and training as a researcher.
