Course Introduction

Part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, our research programme in history covers a wide variety of research areas embracing economic, political and social history. Particular specialisms include: Social change and urban change in 20th'century Britain; film and propaganda; women and professional work in late 19th' and 20th'century Britain and Canada; the Suez Crisis; maritime and business history; French economic history. Additionally research interest is in American influences on British cities; modern Irish history; history of the University of Westminster; European taxation systems; Religious history; European integration and European political history.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum classification of 2.1 in a first degree (or equivalent); and, preferably, a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending); and (if English is not your first language). Appropriate English Language qualifications (you will normally be required to achieve minimum IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent). You will also need to have the commitment and motivation to undertake a sustained programme of independent and self'directed study and training as a researcher.
