Course Introduction

Studying English with Creative Writing allows you to develop your intellectual curiosity and creativity by combining the study of English literature with the practice of creative writing. The English section of the course offers you a solid foundation in literary history and theory, following courses from medieval literature and Shakespeare to modernism, post'colonial and contemporary writing. The creative writing section of the course will help you to develop your writing skills, and to give you insight into the process of writing. You will have the opportunity to grow as a writer, whether in prose fiction, poetry, drama and film, or creative nonfiction. The course will develop your analytical and critical abilities as well as your imaginative skills. Studying English alongside developing your Creative Writing practice will broaden your suitability for a wide range of careers.
