Course Introduction

Diplomatic activity is increasingly influenced by, and influences security. This unique course combines the insights of international relations and professional diplomacy with those from the security services to offer a unique multidisciplinary course available through flexible distance learning. The course recruits primarily from those already working in the security or intelligence communities, or from those in the diplomatic arena with an interest in these activities. It is taught by leading experts in each of the relevant fields, and provides an excellent foundation for employment or career progression in these areas.

Course Modules

Modules include: Security studies; intelligence analysis; theory and practice of modern diplomacy; terrorism and counter 'terrorism; international relations in the contemporary world; contemporary issues in crime, safety and security; dissertation.

Course Additional Entry

You will be required to have a relevant 2nd Class Honours degree (such as in criminology, social or political science), or an overseas equivalent qualification. Alternatively a graduate level professional qualification and suitable work experience (such as policing, security or military work) may be accepted. All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
