Course Introduction

This course provides a creative and relevant approach to exploring visual merchandising, creative display, set design and styling for still life. This course is designed to enrich creativity and provide a supportive learning environment for personal and professional development. Throughout the course emphasis is placed on exploratory and versatile approaches to this subject through practical work carried out both as a group and independently. Students will build their knowledge by being encouraged to unlock the potential of their existing visual merchandising skills. Students will discover the creativity of their own discipline by developing new practical, analytical and interpretative skills. Projects will cover different aspects of visual merchandising, exploring research, design development, communication and presentation.

Course Additional Entry

Honours degree; evidence of experiential learning equivalent to a degree; or 3 years relevant professional experience. The course is aimed at graduates and professionals with previous experience in visual merchandising or related creative industries including but not limited to fashion, fashion communication, performance design and practice, fine art and communication design. Application is by portfolio in which applicants need to demonstrate their ability to: Research appropriately; communicate ideas visually; demonstrate an understanding of 3'dimensional space and shape; develop ideas in showcasing fashion products. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require the following minimum scores: IELTS: 7.0. TOEFL: hand written test: 568 ' 587, computer based test: 226 ' 240, internet based test: 88 ' 95.
