This programme develops Portuguese language skills, enabling students to communicate fluently and accurately with native speakers in both informal and professional contexts; it also develops their ability to critically analyse Portuguese and Brazilian language, linguistics and culture, including art, film, history and literature; students learn the latest theoretical approaches to cultural critique and explore a wide range of cultural forms within their social and historical contexts.
Project, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American studies; option modules: Portuguese 5; scenes of Portuguese history (cultural approaches to modern politics); space, culture and Society in Brazil; the urban experience in Brazil.
Course Additional Entry
A 1st degree in an appropriate subject and language skills in Portuguese equivalent to A'level plus 1 year, or C1 (CEFR), also equivalent to a pass in Portuguese 4.
