Course Introduction

This is a higher degree that focuses on the professional learning of classroom practitioners at different stages of their careers and provides intellectually challenging and sustained practice'based development opportunities. It includes university'based sessions and online discussions with peers from across subjects and phases as key components.

Course Modules

Core modules: developing understanding in English, media, drama studies; leading learning; practice'based enquiry; professional development portfolio 2; research and practice based enquiry (RPBE) leading to a dissertation; research and practice based enquiry (RPBE) leading to a report; research and professional practice; understanding teaching.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum of a 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard is required, together with strong references from appropriate referees. Participants should be teaching in the UK for the duration of the programme. Before being offered a place, students will either need to attend a group interview and submit a piece of reflective writing or, if already a UCL Institute of Education (IOE) PGCE, GTP or Schools Direct graduate, students need to provide a satisfactory written reference from your PGCE IOE tutor in lieu.
