Course Introduction

The course is for teachers, tutors and others interested in research into how mathematics is taught and learnt. The programme gives students the opportunity to reflect on issues of teaching mathematics, consider the theoretical underpinnings and how to make a rigorous study of mathematical learning.

Course Modules

Understanding mathematics education; what is education; digital technologies for mathematical learning; mathematics for teachers; understanding learning and thinking in A'level mathematics; A'level mathematics pedagogy.

Course Additional Entry

Normally applicants are expected to have a lower 2nd Class UK Honours degree, usually in mathematics or in education, with relevant experience. Professional experience of teaching or tutoring, and the ability to write reports will will also be considered as relevant experience.
