Open to international students only, our BA Anthropology and Sociology (with International Foundation Year) is suitable for you if your academic qualifications do not yet meet our entrance requirements for an undergraduate degree. This four'year course includes a foundation year (Year Zero), followed by a further three years of undergraduate study. International students who are admitted to this programme will normally be eligible for a four'year CAS and student visa. This will last the duration of the degree. Our English language and academic skills modules supplement your academic subjects. Anthropology and sociology deal with human behaviours in their social context. This degree gives you a comprehensive grounding in these converging subjects, so you'll develop an understanding of their shared traditions and differences in perspective. The degree is divided evenly between the two subjects, so you'll look at cultural difference and non'Western societies, as well as the sociology of industrial societies. Our academics are responsible for actively shaping the disciplines ' they are pioneers in their fields, playing key roles in the development of contemporary social and cultural understandings. We look at the subjects from a contemporary perspective, which means that what you learn in the classroom will be relevant in a variety of public domains, in Britain and elsewhere. Our students are diverse, dynamic and motivated. You'll develop an understanding of human behaviour and organisation, which will be useful to a number of different career paths and our graduates have gone on to work for the UN, World Bank, NGOs, law companies and CSR consultancies.
