Course Introduction

In this course, students develop the ability to design and manage networking and cyber security systems. It provides knowledge of the latest security principles, tools and techniques and an understanding of the principles underpinning effective approaches to cyber defence in response to a cyber'attack.

Course Modules

Core modules: Advanced routing protocols; network and system security; cyber security; advanced switched networks; project. Optional modules: Advanced digital forensics; advanced digital crime investigation; information security; broadband networks; computer network analysis and simulation.

Course Additional Entry

A 2.2 degree or equivalent in electronics and communications, computer science, computing or a closely related discipline; applicants with relevant professional experience may also be considered; all applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language; applicants who require a tier 4 student visa may need to provides a secure English language test (SELT) such as academic IELTS; the university's minimum language entry requirements to postgraduate taught courses require a pass in English language at GCSE at grade C or above, or IELTS test at band 6.0 or above with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component, or an equivalent English language qualification.
