Course Introduction

Sport and related research are boom areas at the University of East London. This is the ideal environment to complete a course which will take you towards a career in research. Unlike traditional MSc courses, the MRes in Sports Science is designed specifically to provide you with the maximum opportunity to develop and demonstrate key research skills. Two'thirds of your course will consist of independent project work under the direction of a director of studies.You will be working within one of the many internationally recognised research groups in the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience, and you may find yourself contributing to an existing research project. The facilities here are second to none. Our '21 million SportsDock complex at our Docklands campus houses a specialist strength and conditioning unit, state'of'the'art physiology laboratories and new lecture theatres. It's what you would expect from a university located so close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and which Team USA selected as its training base for the London Olympics and Paralympics.

Course Modules

Essential research skills (core); research project (core). students will choose to study one of the optional modules below: designing and implementing survey research (option); quantitative data analysis methods (option); creating and analysing qualitative data (option); doing research to assess quality,impact and effectiveness (option); contemporary theories in sport psychology (option); theory of strength and conditioning (option); sport and exercise nutrition (option); physical activity and exercise (option); muscles, movement and exercise (option); gait, balance and posture (option); managing the healthy athlete (option); sports rehabilitation: injury to optimal performance (option).

Course Additional Entry

Minimum 2.2 Honours in a relevant subject. Overall IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing, Speaking, Reading and Listening (or recognised equivalent).
