Course Introduction

Challenge your thinking about dance within a framework of conceptual, political and social ideas throughout dance history. This course examines dance, dancers and dancing using sociological and political lenses, and investigates social structures, power, relationships, cultural behaviour, action and thought. You will gain a holistic understanding of the political and sociological implications of how dance functions in society. This course provides an opportunity to reflect upon experience, develop creative ideas and aid critical perspective in practice and theory.
