Course Introduction

This course is based on a structured study of the fundamental texts of Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis. It provides a foundation for doctoral research in clinical psychoanalysis or psychoanalysis applied to other fields such as literature and philosophy, film and media.

Course Modules

Modules include: Psychoanalytical case studies; psychoanalytical theory; critical and cultural theory: identity and representation; Freud and Lacan delivered and assessed in english; gender and sexuality; gender and sexuality in contemporary cinema; plasticity and form; psychoanalysis and media

Course Additional Entry

A 2.1 Honours degree (or above) or its equivalent in a relevant or related subject (including but not limited to philosophy, psychology, literature, politics, film, media and cultural studies, fine art and visual culture, modern languages). Applicants with other kinds of qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with special conditions in all elements.
