Course Introduction

The programme seeks to enhance the ability of students to develop new and creative approaches that extend or define existing legal knowledge or professional legal practice. Moreover, students will develop an in'depth understanding of research methodology within a sound framework of research philosophy initiating this with their own research project under the guidance of their supervisors. Through this educative process at the doctoral level, the programme aims to provide successful students with the accolade of being a leading expert or practitioner in a particular field of law or criminology.

Course Additional Entry

A first degree in law with a minimum standard of Upper Second Class (2:1) Honours from a UK or EU university (or the equivalent degree standing from a recognised overseas university) AND a master's qualification in law (or equivalent professional qualification). Students educated in a language other than English should normally have an IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent in a secure English language test.
