Course Introduction

This course has been developed to help journalists get an international perspective on the world and the way in which global media is now accessible across traditional frontiers thanks to rapidly'evolving communications technology. The course gives aspiring journalists and mid'career practitioners the advanced practical and contextual skills to understand the rapidly changing news landscape and what it means for international journalists. The course is particularly suited to applicants with an international outlook; offering a mix of practice and theory, combined with the latest editorial techniques and advanced academic study. It is aimed at applicants who have already studied media, communications and/or journalism at undergraduate level, and who wish to continue studying this subject to Master's Level.

Course Modules

Modules include: International journalism studies; international journalism practice; collaborative unit; critical perspectives in international journalism; international journalism practice; final major project or dissertation.

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree in a relevant subject, or a professional or academic qualification recognised as equivalent to an Honours degree. Other professional and higher education qualifications and achievements, particularly in media are considered. For applicants who do not have the required qualifications, but do have professional experience, they may be eligible to gain credit for previous learning and experience through the AP(E)L system. Applicants' experience is assessed as a learning process and tutors evaluate that experience for currency, validity, quality and sufficiency. Language requirements (International/EU): All classes are conducted in English. If English is not the first language, applicants are asked to provide evidence of their English language ability when they enrol. IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent) is required for this course. If the first language is not English, applicants can check they have achieved the correct IELTS level in English on the Language Requirements page.
